JRL members were awarded the “European DatSci & AI Awards 2019”

Each year the DatSci Awards has gone from strength to strength, with the 4th Annual Awards set to be the best yet. Yesterday was a full day event hosted in Dublin (Ireland), that connected and celebrated the Data Science Ecosystem across Europe. The Awards demonstrates and celebrates the Power of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence in driving real business, educational and social outcomes. The competition is open to individuals and teams working in the Data Science Ecosystem across Europe and is a unique opportunity to showcase research and application of Data Science/AI and get recognised in this growing industry.

This time the JRL members Sergio Gil and Izaskun Mendia won in the category ‘Best use of Data Science/AI for Industry 4.0’. They presented a smart system for the diagnosis of energy (in)efficiencies in industrial plants called NAIA 4.0, which applies data analysis techniques, learns from a set of historical data that measures consumption, the causal relationship of consumption/production at industrial plant level, and provides advice for the efficient management of plant energy. NAIA 4.0 drives the Industry 4.0 by promoting the transformation of the manufacturing industry through digitalisation, data analysis and machine learning. The system has been validated at a GESTAMP manufacturing plant.
